KP Sanghvi is proud to announce its signing of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) — a global framework co-established by UN Women and the UN Global Compact to advance gender equality. This milestone is not simply an announcement. It is a reflection of who we are and the direction we are committed to.
“We have always believed that equality is not a destination, it is how you build. From creating the diamond industry’s first all-women manufacturing unit to fostering an environment where women lead at every level, our commitment to gender equality is woven into the way we work. Signing the WEPs formalises what has long been part of our culture, and connects us with a global community of businesses driving meaningful change. We are committed to continuing this work, not because it is expected of us, but because we know the brilliance it unlocks.”
— Jimit Sanghvi, Director, KP Sanghvi & Sons
What Are the Women’s Empowerment Principles?
The WEPs framework gives businesses a practical, accountable roadmap for embedding gender equality across their operations, from the boardroom to the supply chain. It is grounded in seven principles:
- Leadership Matters — Establish high-level corporate leadership for gender equality
- Equal Treatment, Equal Opportunity — Treat all women and men fairly at work, with respect and without discrimination
- Health, Safety and Freedom from Violence — Ensure the health, safety and well-being of all workers
- Education and Training — Promote education, training and professional development for women
- Enterprise Development and Supply Chain — Implement supply chain and marketing practices that empower women
- Equality in the Community — Promote equality through community initiatives and advocacy
- Transparency and Reporting — Measure and publicly report on progress towards gender equality
What This Commitment Means Going Forward
Joining the WEPs formalises what has long been part of our culture, and raises the bar for what we hold ourselves accountable to. We will continue expanding opportunities for women across our global operations, deepen gender-responsive practices across our supply chain, and measure and publicly report on our progress as part of the global WEPs community.
