Restoring Urban Landscapes: KP Sanghvi’s Afforestation Initiative in Surat
At KP Sanghvi, sustainability is not a singular effort—it is a continuous commitment to shaping a greener, more responsible future. As part of this journey, and in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), we partnered with Surat Van Mitra Foundation to undertake an urban afforestation initiative in Surat—contributing to the development of more resilient ecosystems.
Rooted in the Miyawaki method, the initiative focuses on cultivating dense, native green cover that accelerates forest growth, enhances biodiversity, and improves air quality within urban environments.
The plantation drive was carried out at Althan’s old dumping site, once a neglected space, now steadily transforming into a developing green zone. A collective effort brought together 90 students alongside KP Sanghvi employees, resulting in the plantation of 330 saplings across 1,076 sq. ft. Designed as a structured, hands-on learning experience, the initiative enabled students to actively engage with afforestation practices—fostering awareness, responsibility, and a deeper connection with the environment.
At KP Sanghvi, sustainability remains an ongoing commitment—one that continues to shape a greener tomorrow, step by step.
